Team Charlton dance results

On Saturday dancers attended the North Island Highland Dancing Association competition in Cumberland.

Dancers from Team Charlton Highland Dancers on the North Island participated in competitions in Cumberland, Victoria, and Regina on the recent May long weekend.

On Saturday dancers attended the North Island Highland Dancing Association competition in Cumberland.

Jacob Tolmie of Port Hardy competed in the Primary category, and placed 2nd in the Pas de Basques and 4th in Pas des Basques and Highcuts.

In the Beginner Under 9 yrs category Madelyn Tolmie of Port Hardy placed 1st in the Highland Fling, and 4th in the Sword Dance and the Flora MacDonald’s Fancy. Natalee Hunt of Port Hardy placed 1st in Sword Dance and the Seann Truibhas, and 5th in the Scottish Lilt.

In the Beginner under 12 yrs category Mayumi Hinatsu-Willie of Port Hardy placed 1st in the Highland Fling, Seann Truibhas, Scottish Lilt, and Flora MacDonald’s Fancy, and 2nd in the Sword Dancing. She won the aggregate high points award for the category. Also dancing in the Beginner under 12 yrs category was Paisley Barolet, placing 3rd in the Highland Fling, Sword Dance, and Flora MacDonald’s Fancy.

In the Beginner 12 years and over category Talia Child of Port Hardy placed 1st in the Highland Fling, Sword Dance, Scottish Lilt, and Flora MacDonald’s Fancy, and 2nd in the Seann Truibhas. Child won the overall high points aggregate trophy for the group. Also dancing in Beginner 12 &over, Paige Greer of Port Hardy placed 5th in Highland Fling and 6th in the Sword Dance.

Madison Grenier of Port Hardy danced in the Intermediate Under 13yrs category and placed 4th in the Highland Fling and Strathspey and Highland Reel and 3rd in the Sailor’s Hornpipe.

At the Victoria Highland Games Jacob Tolmie placed 1st in the Sword Dance in Primary 5 yrs &under.

In Beginner 7 yrs Natalee Hunt placed 3rd in the Highland Fling, 4th in the Sword Dance, 2nd in the Scottish Lilt, and 1st in the Flora MacDonald’s Fancy. Madelyn Tolmie placed 2nd in the Highland Fling and Seann Truibhas, and 3rd in the Sword Dance and the Scottish Lilt.

At the Saskatchewan Highland Games and Celtic Festival in Regina, Abigail McCorquodale of Port Hardy competed in the Queen City Championship and placed 3rd in the Highland Fling and Sword Dance and 5th in the Seann Truibhas and Strathspey and Highland Reel, for an overall placing of 3rd Runner up in the Championship.

McCorquodale also competed in the Prairie Valley Premiership, placing 5th in the Highland Laddie, 2nd in the Village Maid and Blue Bonnets, and 4th in the Sailor’s Hornpipe, for an overall placing of 2nd Runner Up in the Premiership.
