March 28, 1945 - September 1, 2023

In loving memory ~

It is with heavy hearts that the Rushton family announces the sudden passing of David Hugh Rushton "Lumpy." Dave passed away peacefully on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Campbell River Hospital, with family by his side.

Dave was born in Vancouver, B.C., on March 28, 1945, to parents Clifford Percy and Willetta Marie Rushton. At the time of his birth, his family resided in Parksville then moved on to various locations in the interior, and ultimately to Nakusp, where he finished his high school years. It is there that he met the love of his life, Susan. He and Susan were married on July 24, 1965. Shortly after marrying, they relocated to Woss, B.C., where Dave worked for many years as a Log Truck Driver.

Dave was a loving husband, father to Bill (Denise) and Alan (Aleta) and grandfather to Ryan, Lucas, Alexa, Kyle, and Shanton.

Dave will long be remembered for his tireless efforts in the process of turning Woss logging camp into a community. He also served many years on the RDMW as Regional Director Area D and Chair of the Woss Residents Association. It was during this time that he spearheaded the Englewood Railway Heritage Park.

Dave was a solid character with a sense of humour and a love of fishing and sports, especially hockey.

Throughout his life, he developed many loyal friendships that continued to his final days.

Please join us for a Celebration of Dave's life on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Port McNeill Curling Club.
