March 29, 1934 – December 26, 2014

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edith Louise Varga (nee Olsen).  Edith passed peacefully on December 26, 2014.

Edith was born March 29, 1934 in Vancouver.   In 1962 she married the love of her life Joseph Varga and the two started their journey, making a life in Kokish and then Port McNeill. The great love that these two shared was evident to everyone who knew them and Joe remained a devoted and caring husband right until the end, devoting his life to caring for Edith with great tenderness when she could no longer care for herself.

Predeceased by her sister Betty McLean and grandson Branden Varga. Edith will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 52 years Joe, children Joe (Rhonda) Varga, Brenda (Jim) Short, grandchildren Tristan, Brandi, Shayna, Cheyanne, Johnathan and Allison, great grandchildren Keandra and Joseph as well as her adopted grandchildren Crystal and Shane, as well as many friends.

Edith was active in the community of Port McNeil as a Lioness and was known for her generous, tough, and tenacious spirit.  Life was not always easy but she persevered and has left a legacy of love and tenacity for all who knew her.

We would like to thank Dr. Armagon,  Dr. Jensen, Dr. A.J., and the staff at the Port McNeil and Alert Bay hospitals who showed Edith tenderness, respect, and love. Your kindness will not be forgotten.

There will be no public service, but a private celebration of life will be held.
