Eric Ferguson (Fergie)

Nov. 7, 1939-Feb. 24, 2013

Our dear friend Fergie will be missed by many.

He was a story weaver…weaving stories of his friends from the Navy, his business life (Fergie was an ultra fast and clean window washer at very reasonable rates and always on time) and from his personal friends into our very own life journeys.

He was a fixture at Overwaitea and the Mall and he greeted many many people with smiles and good wishes. He loved people and always was pleased to have a visit or just a few kind words.

I meet Fergie when I arrived in Port Hardy 25 years ago and have never lost track of Fergie’s whereabouts. He was always there to help. He was a kind soul with lots of advice for everyone. He did his job well!

I have started his story but many can add to what he has done to make their lives better. He was a community member that loved his community and couldn’t find anywhere else in the world to live but Port Hardy.

His daughter Tara came to say good bye and share the celebration of his life on March 15th at the Seniors Centre. There was a great turn out with about 50 people sharing and swapping stories of Fergie and enjoying the photos from the past.

We will all miss you, Fergie!
