March 23, 1932 – June 13, 2011

Harry immigrated to Canada from Boden Sweden in the 60’s. He started out in the Yukon Territories, working at a mine and prospecting part-time. After his stint in the North, he started working as a road construction Contractor in the Powell River area. For the next couple of decades, Harry built roads all over the Island and Coastal areas, working for most of the major Forestry Companies. Harry Hansson Contracting became a well known and respected name in the industry. The time came to slow down a little; semi retirement? Not an easy thing for Harry to do; he still operated machinery on a part time basis whenever he got the chance.

Over the years, Harry employed many people. He was a great boss, and treated all his employees like they were family. Harry was a kind and generous soul and left a wake of friends where ever he went. He was truly a perfect Gentleman under any circumstances.

When Harry passed away, he was in the process of organizing a trip to Alaska with his long time friend, Bernie, with the intention of prospecting for gold.

Way to go Harry! We will miss you!
