Born Dec 07, 1931, Jacquie slipped away quietly at home Nov 03, 2016.

Survived by son Pat Mahoney (Marie), daughter Micki Mahoney (Rick), best friends Lin & Ken Antonelli, grandcat Jack, grandson James Mahoney, sister-in-law Carol Hayes, nephew Bill Hayes (Jackie), niece Deanna Cummings (Jasson), 4 great nephews & many extended & step family members. Predeceased by her spouse John Obester, dad Robert (Bob) Hayes Sr., mom Irene Hayes (Routley) & brother Robert (Bob) Hayes Jr.

Raised in Port Coquitlam, Jacquie had many vivid, fond memories of family, friends, the Wild Duck Inn & the Pitt River. Never one to be told she couldn’t do it, Mom overcame adversities & took on a wide range of occupations & activities in her life. Smart, funny, feisty & determined, Jacquie was game for almost anything.

Proud to be an Eagles & REAC member for 40+ years, Jacquie dedicated countless volunteer hours. She & her sidekick Lin always had a project on the go, raising & donating funds to various charities. Together this dynamic duo had many adventures, laughs and a shared admiration of Matthew McConaughey in the Lincoln commercials.

Avid curling fans, Jacquie & Joan Davidson often cheered & relentlessly critiqued the sport. Although she seldom missed an opportunity to express her point of view, Mom championed the underdog & would lend a hand to anyone (or animal). Always up for a game of crib, Jacquie got the ultimate “29” hand during a game Oct 27, 2016.

Rocky, as she was also affectionately known, loved (& was very proud of) her family, animals, tugboats, a good joke, the Casino, roadtrips and to share a drink with friends. So think of her with a smile & raise a glass in her honour.

Special thanks to Dr. Jon Walker, the Paramedics, hospital personnel and all who showed Mom exceptional care and compassion, particularly during the last year.
