SMALL, Jean Alena

April 21, 1930 – February 1, 2012

Jean passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the age of 81. She was predeceased by her husband Donald in 1997. Jean was born in Unity, Saskatchewan, and the family later moved to Saskatoon where Jean spent her teen years. As a young woman, Jean moved to Vancouver where she re-met her future husband Don (they had been neighbours from Saskatoon). They were married in 1953, had six children and lived most of their married life in Port Hardy, BC. Not only did Jean raise six children but worked outside of the home most of her life. Jean lived out the last twenty years of her life in Nanaimo amongst many of her family members. Jean will be remembered fondly by the Wexford Creek community where she lived for the last two years. Jean is survived by her children, Donna (Rick), Lynea (Bob), Deborah (Zach), Dale (Jae-eun), Lorena (Derek), and Don (Barb). She has been blessed with 20 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was a wonderful and beloved Mother, Grandma and Great Grandma, and will be greatly missed by all.

Special thanks to Wexford Creek Care Home. A service will be held Saturday, February 4 at 10:30 am at First Memorial Funeral Services, 1720 Bowen Avenue, Nanaimo. No reception to follow.
