Merriel Frances (Densmore) Walsh, 76 of Port Hardy, BC died in hospital on Friday, January 6th, 2017 at 3:40pm surrounded by her husband George, daughter Lisa (Ralph), grandchildren Nicholas and Olivia and niece Becky.

Born in Noel Shore on September 30, 1940 to Jehu and Frances Densmore. She moved from Nova Scotia to Central and Western Canada to finally find the beloved small town of Port Hardy. She worked for the school district for many years and moved on to the RCMP where she managed the office and retired after 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jehu and Frances Densmore, brothers Marvin and Elmer Densmore, sisters Dorris McClare and Ola Tappen. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 51 years George Walsh, daughter, Lisa Luongo (Ralph), grandchildren Nicholas and Oliva. Her sister-in-law Elin Paterson and nieces Becky, Nikki and Erika and their families.

Merriel’s passion for life touched many people in the organizations and groups she belonged to.

You could find her singing a tune whenever she heard a song she sang with the Tsusquana Singers. From her time with Eastern Star, Tsusquana Singers, the Seniors Centre and later in life, her passion for the pool, she enjoyed her groups and outdoor living. She especially enjoyed her days at the beach, either her daily walks, road trips or in the RV. She was an avid gardener at the community garden and loved to showcase her flowers on her patio.

A celebration of her life will be held at Pier Side Landing on March 11, 2017 from 1pm to 4pm, 8800 Granville Street, Port Hardy.
