It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Russ Hellberg on the morning of February 22, 2024.
He passed away peacefully in Langley BC and is survived by his amazing & devoted wife, Cathie Hellberg, his children Kristine Digaf (Simon Digaf ), Karl Hellberg, Jimmy Edwards (Barb Curtis), Lorelei Cain (Bruce Lundin), his grandchildren Selena, Tiffany, Colton, Cassidy, Jordan, Dryden, Kingston, and Austin and his sisters Barb, Linda and Karen.
He served as a distinguished Major in the Canadian Military for over 20 years and then retired to Port Hardy in August 1981. He was elected Mayor of Port Hardy for 3 terms and served the community with passion and integrity. He and Cath moved down to Langley in 2020 and resided with Kristine and her family.
He will be honoured, loved always and treasured by all that he knew.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Port Hardy Civic Centre on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 1-4 pm.
