BC Hydro announces interruption Mar. 2

System upgrade to cut power to North Vancouver from 8 a.m.-9 a.m. Sunday, Mar. 2.

To prepare for the activation of North Vancouver Island's second major Independent Power Project in less than a year, power to the region will be interrupted for approximately one hour on Sunday, Mar. 2, BC Hydro announced this week.

Communities from Woss northward, including Alert Bay and Malcolm Island, are expected to be without power from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Mar. 2 as BC Hydro makes system upgrades to allow for the interconnection of the Kokish run-of-river Independent Power Project.

The interruption follows a similar break in service performed last summer to prepare for the uptake of power from the Cape Scott Wind Farm on the northern tip of the Island.

BC Hydro recommends customers protect all sensitive electrical equipment. For more information on preparing for outages and staying informed, visit bchydro.com/outages or call 1-888-POWERON.
