A show of power will take place on Nov. 12 at the Coast Forest Industries Ltd. gym on Mine Road in Port McNeill.
On that date, Special Olympians will gather for a powerlifting competition beginning at 11 a.m., says coach Chris Stewart.
The event will feature athletes from Comox, Campbell River and two from the North Island - one from Alert Bay and one from Port McNeill, said Stewart, who coaches with Rob Ingle.
The North Island competitors have been training for the last year and a half and this will be their first competition.
Stewart said he has one athlete who weighs 148 that lifts 293 pounds.
