North Island Employment (NIEFS) is pleased to announce that it has moved from its previous location in Thunderbird mall to a new, easily accessible location at 102-7160 Rupert Street (formerly Monk Office).
Located in the heart of the community, this beautiful new space will serve as a hub for a variety of employment programs designed to meet the diverse needs of the North Island.
NIEFS continues to offer comprehensive WorkBC Employment Services at its new address, helping residents find sustainable employment, explore career pathways, and access specialized job search support.
This program is funded by the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia. In addition to WorkBC Employment Services, NIEFS offers a range of valuable employment programs, including:
Careers in Caring – Helping out of school youth explore and enter rewarding fields in healthcare, early childhood education and community based human services.
Crafting Your Career Pathway – Assisting job seekers in identifying and achieving their career goals through innovative program design which interweaves career development theory with hands-on expressive arts.
Skills Bridge – Providing opportunities for Internationally Trained Workers to offset costs related to foreign credential recognition, gain new skills and connect with employers.
Youth Employment Support – NIEFS proudly features a dedicated Youth Employment Specialist who works closely with youth through Foundry Work and Education to help them navigate the workforce and education systems.
The relocation reflects NIEFS’ commitment to enhancing access to employment and career development resources for individuals including: adults needing support to shift careers and those pursuing skill development in the workforce, youth, as well as those with barriers to employment including those with disabilities.

The new NIEFS Port Hardy location is now open in the former Monk Office space at 102-7160 Rupert Street, and the team is ready to support individuals and businesses in finding success. Office hours are Wednesday 8:30am – 4:30pm, Thursday 9:30am – 5:30pm and Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm. The office will be closed on all statutory holidays.
