Forty three years ago, students carved a totem pole for North Island Secondary School in Port McNeill.

Thanks to local community members sending in tips, NISS has learned who the student carvers were.

Mike Stadnyk, Wayne Peterson, Jim Wilson, Ron Tucker, Paul Tucker, Paul Hawryluk, Paul Prestie, Steve Gullstrom, Mike Lyon, Steven Tinkler, and Barry Forsyth from Ms. Marg Furnell’s art class were the alumni who carved the totem pole that still rests in front of NISS to this day.
