A 30-year-old Campbell River resident was found dead inside the Seine Float washrooms in Port Hardy.

“On June 8, at approximately 8:49 p.m., Port Hardy Emergency Health Services requested the Port Hardy RCMP attend the public restroom as an adult male was reported deceased at that location,” said Port Hardy Staff Sgt. Wes Olsen via email. “Port Hardy RCMP members attended the scene and discovered a 30-year-old Campbell River resident deceased in the restroom.”

Olsen said foul play is not suspected and evidence collected by police suggest a possible drug overdose.

The exact cause of death has not been determined, pending the results of a toxicology report.

Police are not releasing the name of the deceased at this time.

The Seine Float washrooms are Small Craft Harbour public property, which are managed by the District of Port Hardy through the Port Hardy Harbour Authority.
