I had just gotten on the ferry to Alert Bay in our beautiful North Island sun shine the other the other day.
I was one of the last cars on and overheard a conversation a couple of the ferry crew were having on the radio, with the ticket booth. It seemed there’d been a bit of a screw up, and a woman from Sointula, who was supposed to have assured boarding on the Alert Bay ferry hadn’t gotten on.
The two crewmen were trying to figure out how to move cars around to make enough room but it just wasn’t going to work. They were both obviously concerned about it. One of them called the ticket booth attendant again and asked if the woman could possibly leave her car and walk on. The attendant replied that she needed her car to get to where she had to go in Alert Bay. The crewman immediately responded with “tell her to walk on. She can use my truck for the day”. What a great place we live in,
It made me even more proud and happy to be a North Islander.
