Dear editor,

I wish to commend Dr. Prean Armogam for having the courage to expose the failings of the province’s health-care system.

Regrettably, we have become a country where it is much easier to find a health care administrator than it is to find a doctor. In fact, Canada has ten times more health care administrators per citizen than Germany. (See the book “Patients at Risk” by Susan D. Martinuk.)

As a result, honorable frontline MDs like Dr. Armogam must battle through an army of bureaucrats in order to best serve their patients.

And how does the BC NDP address this? By bringing in Bill 36, which puts an even thicker layer of highly paid bureaucrats between frontline health-care professionals and their patients. Does anyone actually imagine this will mend a broken system?

Van Powel,

Malcolm Island
