Port Hardy Building Supply celebrated its grand reopening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, April 30.

Mayor Pat Corbett-Labatt was on hand to cut the ribbon, along with the new owners Andrea and Keith Porter. The ceremony was followed with some very tasty refreshments, door prizes, and great company.

Corbett-Labatt gave a brief speech before doing the honours with a large pair of garden scissors, stating that Port Hardy Building Supply has been in operation in the North Island since 1960, "and it's served not just Port Hardy, but all of the coastline."

She noted with the Porters as the new owners of the business, it will continue to provide "such amazing services to our North Island and the communities beyond... I'm so happy that we had locals buying it, and locals who are staying in the community."

Andrea Porter thanked the crowd for showing up to celebrate, adding she and Keith are "super excited, and we can't wait to continue the legacy of the store."

She confirmed there's some "big things coming" on the horizon, and they are "just so grateful for all of the community support and everybody standing behind us while we go through this challenging first year, which has been a success, thank you."

Port Hardy Building Supply is located at 6945 Market Street and is open Monday to Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (4:30 p.m. on Saturdays).
