The driver of an older pickup truck was incredibly lucky on the evening of Sunday, July 28 after they went off the road and fell about 30 feet down an embankment around the 313 km marker, just north of Woss.

Port McNeill RCMP Corp. Spencer Mylymok said in an interview with the Gazette they received the Iphone crash detection alert a little after 7:30 p.m. and were quick to respond to the scene from there.

"Fortunately, there were no injuries," confirmed Mylymok. "The driver declined medical services, and basically our investigation determined that fatigue was a factor and the driver was issued a ticket under the motor vehicle act."

Mylymok noted the driver was very fortunate they weren't injured during the incident.

"If you're feeling tired then find a place to stop and have a rest," he said. "Don't push the envelope and try to get where you're going if you're feeling fatigue, that's a sign you should be pulling over. It's not only for the safety of the driver but everyone else on the road."
