There was a significant single motor vehicle incident on Mayors Way Road in Port Hardy on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 5).

Port Hardy RCMP received the call regarding the incident around 12:54 p.m. They arrived quickly to the scene, along with Port Hardy Fire Rescue and emergency personnel.

When asked to comment, Cst. Julie Miller noted that “All we can really say at this point is that criminality is not suspected and we’ve completed our investigation into it.”

She confirmed there was a one occupant in the vehicle who sustained injuries and was taken from the scene of the crash by ambulance to a hospital.

The road eventually reopened to local traffic around 1:30 p.m., said Miller.

“We had an amazing turnout of community members coming to help clean up the accident scene - everyone on Mayors Way definitely helped out and it was pretty cool to see.”
