The outhouses near the visitor information centre in Port Hardy went up in flames very early in the morning last Sunday (Oct. 6).

It was around 12:30 a.m. when Port Hardy Fire Rescue was called to the scene and got to work extinguishing the fires. Two RCMP officers were also able to attend and spoke with witnesses who were there.

"We are currently trying to identify if there are any viable leads and suspects, that includes any video that may have been filmed in the area," stated Port Hardy RCMP Sgt. Trevor Busch, when asked to comment.

The investigation is ongoing and the RCMP is encouraging any other witnesses to come forward with information. If anyone has information regarding the fires, please contact the Port Hardy RCMP at 250-949-6335.
