Janet Dorward’s councillor candidate biography

Educated as a Chartered Insurance Professional and a Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker, I currently work in Port Hardy as a commercial insurance broker. I served on Port Hardy town council from 2011-2014 with various committee and Regional District appointments during my tenure. I have 13 years experience in management as well and that included setting and managing the operation’s budgets. With fiscal management being a primary responsibility of a council member – spending your tax dollars wisely – I have the well-rounded experience to take on this role.

Filomi Days gained renewed energy when I organized our town festival for a few years in the early 2000’s and I continue to volunteer with various Rotary projects around our community.

My passion for Port Hardy is about ensuring the best standards of living for the people here – jobs, recreation, and services. I was born and raised here in Port Hardy and have a genuine interest in what the people of Port Hardy want. If elected, I will be a strong advocate for Port Hardy and its people.
