HYDE CREEK – Hobby farmers are being warned to lock up their livestock.

HYDE CREEK – Hobby farmers are being warned to lock up their livestock.

Three goats and 20 chickens were taken by a cougar in the Hyde Creek area recently, said Conservation Officer Tim Schumacher. All the animals were on one property.

"We set some traps but didn't get anything," said Schumacher.

He recommends livestock owners lock up their animals or use electric fencing to deter cougars. Pets should be kept indoors.

Anyone who sees a cougar should report it to 1-877-952-RAPP (7277).
