Seniors around the country are getting together in various communities to demand climate action.

One of these events will be at Spirit Square at Campbell River on Oct. 1, and feature three speakers: Jessica Wegg, Nic Dedeluk and Sue Moen.

"As seniors, we have a major role to play – we have motive, commitment, opportunity, and we vote," says organizer Bonnie Brownstein.

Wegg is the Green Party of Canada's candidate for the North Island-Powell River riding for the upcoming federal election, while Dedeluk is the provincial party's candidate for October's provincial election for the North Island riding.

Moen is a community activist and the co-manager of the Campbell River Farmers Market.

The event will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. After the speeches, attendees will march to the offices of either MP Rachel Blaney or MLA Michelle Babchuck.
