Shelby Robertson’s goal in the third round of the shootout gave the Campbell River Peewee Hurricanes the championship with a 3-2 win over Oceanside on Sunday,  Feb. 15 in the Powell River Female Recreational Hockey Tournament.

The Hurricanes had earned a berth in Sunday’s final with a 2-0-1 record in three games on Saturday, starting with a 3-3 tie with the same Oceanside team they’d end up meeting the following day in the final.

The second game of the weekend saw the Hurricanes explode in the second and third periods for a 16-0 win over Fuller Lake.

Playing their third game on Saturday, the Hurricanes scored once in each period in a 3-1 win over Port McNeill. Robertson opened the scoring late in the first period, Ewing scored in the second, and Mortimer the third. Port McNeill got a goal late in the third to get within two and spoil what would have been a second consecutive shutout, but could draw no closer.
