UPDATE: No tickets issued by Port Hardy RCMP after motor vehicle incident on Byng Road

Port Hardy Fire Rescue, RCMP, and emergency personnel were all on scene.

There was a motor vehicle incident on Byng Road near the Fort Rupert Road last night (Monday, Nov. 9) around 6:30 p.m.

According to Port Hardy RCMP Staff Sgt. Andy Phillips, a person who was walking on the road in the dark was hit by the mirror of a passing vehicle.

The road was quickly shut down and there was no detour in place. Port Hardy Fire Rescue, RCMP, and emergency personnel were all on scene. The road was reopened for traffic around 7:30 p.m.

Phillips said the person suffered very minor injuries and there were no tickets issued to the driver.
