As a result of a physician shortage, Port Hardy Hospital will have limited health services for 24 hours beginning 8 a.m. Friday and again beginning 8 a.m. Sunday, VIHA announced this week.
The first emergency room closure will run until 8 a.m. Saturday. The second will run until 8 a.m. Monday.
During these periods, those with an emergency are asked to call 911 or proceed to the Port McNeill Emergency Department.
Those unsure what services they need may call 8-1-1, a 24-hour, toll-free service that provides a confidential consultation with a registered nurse.
