Us and Them, a “powerful” film about homelessness on Vancouver Island, is coming to Port Hardy.
Filmmmaker Krista Loughton followed four chronically homeless people in Victoria for 10 years to make the film, which will be screened at the Port hardy Civic Centre on May 16 starting at 6:30 p.m.
Don Kattler of the Sacred Wolf Friendship Centre said Loughton will be on hand to answer questions after the screening.
“It’s a very powerful film, very moving, heart-wrenching at times,” said Kattler. “It’s going to touch people in a positive way. As hard as it is to watch I think it gives a positive message.”

Admission to the event is $5. Tickets are available at Cafe Guido.
Kattler said any money remaining after costs are covered will go to the local Housing First initiative. He said the local group has funding to house three people but have been unable to work out the details on a specific units.
The event is being sponsored by Cafe Guido, North Island College, the Kwa’lilas Hotel and 460 Realty.
