The Regional District of Mount Waddington has officially appointed four fire chiefs for its fire departments.

“It’s that time of the year where we need to appoint fire chiefs for the four Regional District fire departments,” said Manager of Operations Patrick Donaghy at the Board of Directors meeting in January.

In his report to council, Donaghy stated, “The manager of operations passes along the recommendation from the departments that the following appointments be made: Rob Glass be appointed Fire Chief for the Woss Volunteer Fire Department. Doug von Schilling be appointed Fire chief for the Hyde Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Andrew Hory be appointed Fire Chief for the Coal Harbour Volunteer Fire Department, and Tom Trimmer be appointed Fire Chief for the Sointula Volunteer Fire Department.”

“Generally we try and get through this really quickly before they can run and hide but they all seem to be willing to step forward yet again,” laughed Donaghy, adding “which is much appreciated by their communities.”

Chair Andrew Hory, who was also being appointed Fire Chief for the Coal Harbour Volunteer Fire Department, thanked Donaghy for the statement and said he appreciated the comment.

The RDMW passed the motion to appoint the four fire chiefs.
