Surrounded by his loving family, Alvin passed away peacefully September 14, 2005 at the Port Hardy Hospital. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Gloria, his children: Lance (Frances), Lloyd (Jackie), Dennis (Evelyn) and Helen (Doug), brothers Kenneth (Irene), Donovan, as well as, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by both his parents, David and Margaret, his two brothers Roy and Lawrence, his sister Marion Anderson and grandson Roger McGill.

Alvin was born in Wakopa, Manitoba, where at an early age his family moved to Burnaby and the to Whiterock. He later found his way to up the coast to Smiths Inlet where he met his bride, then Gloria Gildersleeve. The two were married in Ocean Falls in 1942. The Family relocated to Port Hardy in 1968 and remained until his recent passing. His family and friends will miss him dearly.
