Arlene Butterworth

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arlene Butterworth at the Port Alberni Hospital after a brief but courageous fight with cancer. As usual Arlene put everyone before herself right to the end. Arlene was predeceased by her son Dennis Reid and is survived by her husband Don, sons John (Wanita) and Michael, stepsons Lucky (Mickey) and Jackie, brothers Rod, David and Terry and sisters Lynne and Ruth nine grandchildren and one great grandson and countless friends.

Arlene started her working career in the medical field as a dietician at Riverside Hospital. She then moved to Port Hardy with Don in 1984 where she worked at the Pioneer Inn and the Source. She was an avid reader and was very involved with her book club as well as her 20-20 Women’s club and the Triport Racetrack. Arlene also enjoyed prolonged telephone conversations with her close friends and family. One of her greatest pleasures was spending time with her grandchildren and showering them with gifts.

A celebration of life will take place at the Port Hardy Legion on May 15 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers donations could be made to the Cancer Society.
