Bradley KC Harry Beaton (Joseph)

March 15, 2006

BEATON (Joseph), Bradley KC Harry

(January 19, 1988 – March 15, 2006)

We are deeply saddened to announce that Brad passed away in a tragic car accident, minutes from his home on Wednesday March 15, 2006.  Brad was an incredible gift to us all, with a warm smile, a willingness to see the bright side of every situation and an undeniable loyalty and love for all his family and friends.  He was born and raised in Vancouver, recognized Alert Bay as a home, and lived for several years in Nanaimo.

Brad was a son, he was a big brother, he was a grandson, a nephew, a cousin and a friend.  He loved to write poetry, to listen to music, listen to Ska, play guitar, swim, read fantasy books, play video games, act, draw, play sports (rugby, soccer and football), enjoy the simple things in life and to be with his family and friends.  He made people laugh, he made everyone comfortable in any situation and he offered all that he had at every occasion.  His gift of music to his younger brothers will be cherished forever.

Brad developed a strong sense of community through his immediate and extended family, through his own life experiences and through his own values.  He cared deeply for the environment, for the way that each of us treats each other and for those who deserved a better chance in life.  He was a good person and our world has lost someone special in his passing.

We would like to recognize and give our appreciation to all of you who were at the accident scene and to all of you who offered your assistance that night.  And our thanks and love to all the family and friends who have and continue to support us through this difficult time.  Brad would appreciate and be comforted that we are looking after each other.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Brad Beaton Memorial Fund In-trust.  The Fund will provide $400 cash awards annually to students studying Grade 12 English (which Brad had almost completed at this time of his death) and Music/Drama (which was Brad’s favourite course in High School).  Donations to the Brad Beaton Memorial Fund In-Trust can be made at any branch of the Coastal Community Credit Union.  The account number is 3231925, Hammond Bay Branch in Nanaimo.

A service for Brad was held in Alert Bay on Saturday March 25th.  A Celebration of his life will be held in Nanaimo on April 1 @ 12:30 pm.
