Carol Johnson

December 24, 2006

1944-2006

Carol Johnson (nee Henson) passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 24th after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jerry, daughter Dana, son bradley, daughter-in-law Lisa, grandchildren Isabella and Finn, sister Juanita (Pete), brother John (Doreen), Rod (Ann), Rick (Diane), Fred (Cecile) and several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews. Carol knew and remembered all of their birthdays.

Carol was born and grew up in Victoria and after marrying Jerry in 1966 and Dana coming along in 1967 and Brad in 1968 with stops in Vancouver, Nanaimo and Stewart, BC, Jerry and Carol settled in Port Alice in 1973 where they raised their family and became an integral part of the community. Carol worked at the grocery store, the golf club and later at the local hospital. She spent countless hours volunteering for minor hockey and the figure skating club and the Oscar Hickes Hockey Tournament.

She attended all her kids games and competitions and Jerry’s Old-timers games. In 1999 the same year she retired, her granddaughter Isabella was born. Carol loved being “Granny” and when grandson Finn was born in 2001 her family picture was complete. Granny’s life was about her family and friends, immediate and extended and she loved and cared for them with all her heart and soul.

She will be greatly missed by her family and her community. The family is humbled by the love and kindness shown to them and thanks everyone for their support and caring.

Goodbye Granny, you leave an emptiness in all our lives.
