Codville - David William (Dave) 1931 - 2006 It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Dave Codville, in Port Hardy, B.C. on June 27, 2006. Dave was born at Pender Harbour, B.C. on October 13, 1931, and moved at an early age to Duncan with his family. he took his schooling in Duncan and North Vancouver. After high school graduation, Dave spent some time getting used to the ways of the world, then enlisted in the Canadian Army, where he served for 5 years. He left the Army and enrolled in UB, where he obtained his BA in 1960. He became a high school teacher and taught in Enderby, Duncan, Vanderhoof, Pemberton, Port Moody and Fox Lake, AB. During this time, Dave was active coaching student sports and helping with sudent activities. Dave was an active sportsman his whole life. When a student, he boxed well, participating in a number of Golden Glove events. He won his weight division in 1953, as well as the Golden Boy Award for the best boxer in the competition. He was Canadian Army Middleweight Champion while in the service. Dave was noted among his friends for his keene sense of humor particularly for the many numerous letters he sent. He loved to read and could somment with some knowledge on almost any subject. Dave leaves behind his daughter, Kerri (robin), his grandchildren (Hugo & Hannah), his brother, Dan (Del) and Bruce (Barb) , his 2 sisters Grace Johnstone and Anne Dobell (Colin). He leaves many friends, particulary his dear friend Mildred Childs. Dave's ashes will be scattered at a later date.
