Stephens-Ellen Rebecca “Nellie”
Dec. 11, 1925-Oct. 29th, 2003 Passed away peacefully in the Port McNeill Hospital. Nellie was born in Burnaby in 1925. She worked for Boeing Aircraft as a riveter during WWII. She married Stanley in 1945 and they moved to the islands of the Broughton Archipelago where they raised their three sons. Nellie spent a few years back in Vancouver from 1979 until 1982 when she and her husband moved to Port McNeill. Nellie has many close friends in Port McNeill and the North Island who will miss her good nature and happy personality.
Nellie was pre-deceased by her husband Stanley, March 6, 1990 and her son Clifford, October 20, 1975. Nellie will be sadly missed by son Kent and Elaine, grandson Kelly and son Grant and Danell and their children, Jessica, Nicholas and Holly. Her stepson Lance and Elaine Stephens. Her sisters Margaret, Alice, Lillie and brother Ted.
Nellie’s family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and doctors at the Port McNeill Hospital.
Over the last few years Nellie has made extended stays in the hospital and has been treated so wonderfully by all the staff. The nursing staff should be commended for their tireless care and devotion.
