September 19, 1939 - February 21, 2020
Esko was born in Finland and moved to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario when he was 12 years old. While living in Canada, he met his wife of 57 years, Aira. They moved to Port McNeill in 1976, where he worked as a miner, faller, and as a fisherman until his retirement.
Esko is predeceased by his wife, Aira Friman. They are survived by their four children: Rick, Susan, Connie, and John, and their families.
Esko will be remembered for his many contributions to the Port McNeill minor hockey association and the Port McNeill Lions Club. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and in more recent years, his great-grandchildren.
There will be a public service held at 1:00 pm on March 21st, 2020 at the Port McNeill Lions Hall.
