Evelyn Black

1933 - 2006

Our beloved mother Evelyn Marie Black passed away quietly and peacefully on August 17, 2006. She leaves to mourn her five children Lynda, Rick, Cynthia, Bill and Bob, thirteen grandchildren and many extended family members. She was born on January 11, 1933 in Chehalis, Washington, the third child of Ethel and Arthur Johnson. She was the sister of Florence, Anne and the late Tommy Johnson and the Aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was a mother and friend to many. She would open up her home to strangers without even a thought and was the unspoken matriarch of the family. From legal secretary to cook at a logging camp and finally, to owning a bed and breakfast in Port McNeill, Evelyn lived a full and diverse life. Her friendships stretch far throughout the world as guests continued to return to her little paradise on the ocean. She had a keen sense of competitiveness whether it was a game of cards or dominoes and her sense of humour continued to astound us all until the very end.

As we celebrate the miracle her life was, she will always be remembered as a strong determined woman, full of sparkle, but most importantly, as a loving and devoted mother. We were blessed to have her in our lives and we will sorely miss her. But her spirit will live on in the humour, resolve and determination of her children and the memory of her impact in our lives will be imprinted in our souls forever
