Frieda Evelyn Rogers (Isaac)


Born Oct 16, 1932 passed away peacefully on Sept 2, 2005 at St Josephs Hospital in Comox. She was predeceased by her father, mother, and sister Nettie.She leaves behind, her husband of 34 years Sam, daughters Eileen (Cliff) Lovestrom of Port McNeill, Bonnie (Bill) McGlashan of Comox, Janet (Ken) Harrison of Campbell River, and son James (Pamela) of Qualicum. Frieda enjoyed her grandchildren Carl, Nelson, Benson, Heather and Lily. She is also survived by her siblings Eric (Grace) of Abbotsford, Alice Hale of Invermere and Peter (Lorraine) of Kelowna, and many nieces and nephews.Frieda was born in Lucky Lake Sask. The family moved to Waldheim, where she attended Rose River Elementary School. In 1947 the family moved to Clearbrook B.C., where she attended MEI. She worked as a teacher in Verdun Manitoba, and Mission, Silverdale, Tahsis, Fort St John and Salmo, B.C. She was a social worker in Cranbrook, Prince George and Quesnel, B.C. Frieda took a CUSO posting to teach in Nigeria, where she stayed for 2 and 1/2 years, and travelled extensively during her off time.In 1971 she met Sam and his four children. They welcomed her to Zeballos with open arms. There she was active in the founding of the Zeballos Museum, and the library, as well as being a Village Councillor. She also taught kindergarten for 10 years there.Sam and Frieda moved to Piercy Rd in Courtenay in 1993. She was an avid gardener. She participated in the MCC Relief fundraiser and NDP bazaar with plant tables known for their quality and variety. She volunteered at the Global Handshake for several years.Friends are invited to join the family for a gathering and a walk in the garden on Saturday, Sept 10/05 at 1pm at their home, 3792 Piercy Rd Courtenay.
