Henry Nickey passed away peacefully in Nanaimo January 23, 2008. He is survived by a sister Esther Bisson and brother George, both of Vancouver.

Henry was born in Vancouver in 1927. His first job was with the CPR as a fireman on the steam locomotives. Henry liked to travel. He soon moved to Australia, then to the Solomon Islands, then to Papua, New Guinea.

He worked for the GM in Australia, managed a coffee plantation, and managed a department store in Papua, New Guinea. He later moved back to Canada and worked at Island Copper til his retirement.

He had many friends and acquaintances in Port Hardy and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall on 5101 Beaver Harbour Road, Saturday, February 9 at 2:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to come and pay their last respects.
