Hole Frances

October 25, 2003

Sept. 2, 1910 - Oct. 25, 2003

Hole, Frances Elizabeth

(nee Cadwallader) passed away peacefully in Delta at the home of her nephew Walter Cadwallader, where she had made her home for the past two years.

Frances was the youngest daughter and last surviving child of Jane Charity Hunt and her husband Harry Tennyson Cadwallader. Frances was born in the Hudsons Bay Fort at Fort Rupert and spent her childhood there with her eight brothers and sisters, and a large extended family.

In 1934 Frances married Frank Lionel Hole, and moved to Coal Harbour. Together they raised two sons, Harry and Douglas, as well as a number of young people who found their way into the warmth of their home and hearts. Frances was a founding member of the Coal Harbour Community Club, and very active in the early years of the Port Hardy Hospital Womens Auxiliary.

While Frank was active in business and politics, Frances was always willing to open her home, and more particularly her kitchen, to all the people that they met and came to know over their years together. This continued, when in 1972 they moved to Vancouver. They never tired of talking of the beauty of the North Island.

They maintained their close ties to the North Island through both of their very large families, and a network of many dear friends. Frances was always very proud of her diverse family; the Welsh Family, the Tlingit and Kwakiutl Family, the English Trader Family, and all the threads that ran between them. She was thrilled in later life to receive her status card from the Tlingit in Alaska.

In Frances' last years she was assisted by a number of care givers both family and professional. Most particularly Carina who was there until the end.

Frances was predeceased by her husband Frank in August 1994, just weeks short of their 60th Wedding Anniversary. She will be missed by all of her family, especially Harry, Patricia, Douglas, Carrie and Penny. Grandchildren, Sharla, Lionel, Roxanne, Micheal, and Great Granddaughter Jordyn and her mom Rachel.

Funeral Service to be held at the Delta Funeral Home, 5329 Ladner Trunk Road, Delta, B.C., on October 31, 2003 at 11am. An afternoon tea to celebrate her life is being planned for a later date in Port Hardy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the charity of your choice.
