It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Iris Brown, our Mom, our Grandma, our Great Grandma, on February 22, 2007
Iris was born in Allenheads, England on November 23, 1920. She came to Canada in April 1967, residing in Vancouver until 1981 at which time she moved to Chase, BC to be near family. In 1993 Iris moved to Port McNeill, to be near her son Michael (Micky) and family. Iris spent her last days in her little home with the view she loved, surrounded by her devoted family. This was the way that Iris wanted it to be.
Iris was predeceased by her husband Richard (1991) and their daughter Julia (1984).
Left with cherished memories of her life are daughters Jill (Tom), Sheila (Michael), and son Michael (Heather); her grandchildren, Julie and Lisa, Andrew and Sara, Daniel and Georgia, Sonya and Angus; and her great grandchildren Stuart and Alex, Sage and Willow, Emmaleen, Chloe and Russell, Ella and Max, Carson and Nathan, and Jasmine Iris.
Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glints on snow;
I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush;
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there. I did not die.
The family would like to express gratitude to the medical and support staffs at Vancouver General Hospital and Port McNeill Hospital for their kindness and understanding over the past few weeks.
A Private Family gathering will be held in Chase, BC.
A tea in memory of Iris Brown will be held in Port McNeill, date and time to be announced.
