On the morning of August 10, 2019, James (Jim) joined Fran, his loving wife of 44 years, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Saddened by his passing are their four sons: Jim (Susan) of Courtenay, BC, Don (Teresa) of Comox, BC, Tim (Nicky) of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, and Dale (Tanya) of Stony Plain, Alberta. Also missing grandpa are Shaun, Cory, Kristy, Courtney, Colin, Cole, Aleta, Brooke, and Chelsea as well as five great-grandchildren and his brother Doug.
Jim was born in Edmonton to Lillian (Smalley) Cameron and James Cameron. Unfortunately, Lillian passed just days after his birth.
Jim lived most of his formative years in Fernie, B.C. with his dad James and stepmom Mildred (Minton) and brother Doug. Lately, of Comox, BC Jim lived and worked most of his life in Port Hardy, BC.
Jim met and married Fran (Heide) in Port Hardy in 1965, later returning to the Kootenays for a few years before finally settling in Port Hardy in 1971. He worked at Utah Mines until 1980 when he and Fran bought their store, Market St. Market.
Jim also served as Alderman in Port Hardy for two terms.
Jim and Fran moved to Comox in 2000 to be closer to family.
Jim was a very hard-working, honorable man who loved music, photography, and reading.
Jim was also very faithful and cherished his brothers and sisters from the Bay Community Church and his bible study groups.
Thank you to the palliative care team, and especially the nurses at the Comox Valley Hospital, for your compassion and care during dad's last days.
A service is being held Saturday, October 5 at 2 pm at the Bay Community Church, 1105 Pritchard Rd, in Comox, BC.
