It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John Jockum Scharff Moore "Jookie". John was born on February 20, 1933 in Extension, BC and died on January 23, 2018 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
John was predeceased by his mother, Harriet; father, William; brothers, Walter, Cornellius, John, William, George, & Walter; sisters, Margret, Elizabeth, Hosanna, & Joan; infant niece, Myra Myhill; and nephews, Sven Toivonen and Doug Moore.
John is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbours. John worked in the sawmill industries - Vanger's Mill in Extension, Eureka, Mayo Lumber and Harmac's Wood Rooms.
He enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing, sports, and going for coffee with family & friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Brian Wells & the dedicated staff of the ICU, Brent & Natasha Keeping, and Vina & Armand Caumartin.
Pursuant to John's request, no service will be held. The family will be hosting an open house in celebration of John's 85 years on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the Extension Community Hall from 1:00-4:00 pm.
