John William (Bill) Shephard

Bill left us suddenly while working in his beloved garden. He was born in Alliston, Ontario and graduated from Western University, London, Ontario. He worked in Medicine Hat, Trail, Grande Prairie and Dawson Creek before coming to Port McNeill in 1982 to serve as a planner and later administrator for the Regional District of Mount Waddington. Upon his retirement Bill represented Woss as director, serving as chair of the regional board. Bill was also a member of the hospital board. He enjoyed politics and was involved locally as well as provincially and federally.
Bill is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn, sons Jack (Sherry), James, Joe and Stephen (Allison), daughter Sonia, brother Bruce and six grandchildren Jordan, Ross, Rebekah, William, Beth and Garth. He will also be missed by his brother Bruce, & his nieces nephews friends & colleagues.
Bill was raised on a farm in Southern Ontario. He was a man of faith who in Port McNeill worshipped at the Baptist Church. He was involved with the Port McNeill Seniors.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday November 16 at 2p.m. at the Port McNeill Lions Hall.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Salvation Army.
