Kelly Mildred Edwards was born on February 12, 1962 at the Alert Bay Hospital. She was the youngest child of Robert and Ingrid Belveal. Kelly lived and worked all her life in Sointula. Kelly spent most of her teenage years fishing on her father’s seine boat. She had a love for muscle cars owning two of them; her best times were spent down at the beach with close friends. Kelly involved herself in many community activities. She spent a number of years on the Sointula Recreation Association, played on the ‘Island Girls’ softball team, sat as a member on the Area Planning Committee and was involved in the organization of the Sointula Centennial Committee. Kelly’s heart was in the well being of her community and it showed well. March of 2001, Kelly was diagnosed with cancer. In May 2005 she was re diagnosed with the disease. Kelly passed away peacefully on March 15th, 2006. Kelly was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, auntie and friend to many. She is in our hearts and will be truly missed.
