Kerry Douglas Nickerson passed peacefully in the early morning hours in ICU of Vancouver General Hospital, after a lengthy illness. Rummona Slusarchuk, his beloved partner of 26 years, by his side.
Kerry is also survived by his loving daughters, Soshanna and Tia and his grandchildren. Also his mother, Helen Louise Nickerson and his brothers and sisters, Rocky, Don, Janet, Teresa, Shelly and Gail.
Kerry, and his family grew up in Port Hardy and as an adult was involved in many aspects of Port Hardy life. He worked in the logging industry as well as the fishing community and even a stint in the mining operations.
Kerry, and Rummona, left the Island in 1994 to put his hand to farming on his 40 acre farm in Quesnel, BC for 16 years. Then time to spend time with family, so a move to the Shuswap was in order. They joined mom, Louise, and sister Teresa. Eventually they were joined by 2 more sisters, Shelly and Janet.
Kerry maintained numerous close friendships in Port Hardy. His many friends remember him as a kind, caring man who would do anything he could to help anyone out. There are countless fond memories of Kerry and his engaging personality.
