Marilyn Rose Shephard

June 30, 1937 - June 13, 2022
In loving memory ~
We are sad to share that Marilyn Rose Shephard passed away on June 13, 2022, just 17 days short of her 85th birthday. Marilyn arrived in Port McNeill in 1981 with her dear husband Bill, whom she married in 1960. After leaving Ontario and living in many Alberta and British Columbia towns where Marilyn worked as a teacher and mother, the two eventually put down deep roots in Port McNeill; deep roots both with the people they met and worked with, and through their gardening. Eventually they outgrew their property in town and moved out to an acreage in Nimpkish Heights where the two created "Shephard's Garden." For years the garden welcomed visitors from near and far, who marveled at all the beautiful perennials, trees, berries and vegetables that they grew there.
Along with Bill, who predeceased her in 2005, Marilyn was the proud mother of Jack (Sherry), James, Sonia, Joe and Stephen (Allison). Marilyn was the loving grandmother of Jordan (Carla), Ross (Angie), Rebekah (Tyler), William, Beth (Jesse), Garth and Miles, and adoring great-grandmother to Matthew, Ethan, Liam and Julia. Marilyn also leaves behind her brother Bev Wray and brother-in-law Bruce (Carol) Shephard, and their families. Marilyn was a woman of deep faith and spirituality and will also be greatly missed by her church family and friends.
A memorial service celebrating the life of this wonderful woman will take place...Saturday July 9, 2022 2:00 p.m. Lion's Hall - Port McNeill - 2897 Mine Road.
