Belveal, Melvin Henry: born on August 16, 1921 in Alert Bay passed awy suddenly on January 30, 2004 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox. He was a life long resident of the West Coast and lived in Sointula for the past 45 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Lena, daughter Norma, grandchildren Pat (Fred), Merle (Kelly), Crystal (Greg), son Lorrie (Joanne), daughter Dawn (Melvin), granchildren Debbie (Mark), Melvin, sister Mildred (Bill), brother Robert (Ingrid), as well as many close nieces, nephews, and friends. Predeceased by son Wayne; his mother and father, brother Norman; sister Marion; brother Everett and sister Lorraine. Melvin was an active member of the Legion Branch 281, a fisherman and logger by trade and spent his free time hunting, trout and salmon fishing.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 7th, 2004 at 2:00 pm at the Sointula Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Friends of the Marble River Hatchery, Box 594, Port McNeill, BC V0N 2R0.
