Born on June 25, 1935 in Shell River, Saskatchewan to Charles and Leonide Desbiens it is with sadness that we mourn the loss of Raymond Joseph Desbiens on May 13, 2010 surrounded by his family in Port McNeill. Raymond will be remembered by his loving wife Suzanne, children Nicole Carroll; Gilles Desbiens; Louis (Sherry) Desbiens; Yves Desbiens (Sylvie); Claire (Mike) Hodgson; Rene Desbiens (Jessica) and Lise (Reg) Hayward. Grandchildren: Alex, Brandie, Dustin, Alex, Leah, Maranda, Marleah, Alexandra, Kenneth, Sharlene, Tiana, Tyler, Danielle, David, Colette, Justin, Jacqueline, Austin, Vanessa, Destiny, Monique, Sharon and Rachel. He is also survived by brother Paul Desbiens along with sisters Carmen Breton, Grace Dube and many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
His dedication to his family was foremost and he often found many creative ways to provide for his large family. His passions were mining gold, hunting, playing his fiddle, welding and inventing. All his adventures will be fondly remembered.
Raymond was predeceased by brothers Laurent, Albert and Maurice; sisters Therese, Antoinette, Aline, Irene and Blanche.
A service to celebrate his life will take place at 1pm on May 20, 2010 in the Port McNeill Lions Club. Refreshments to follow.
