Former Port Hardy resident Reginald Hugh Shanks passed away Dec 10th, 2021 in Quesnel, BC after a short illness. Affectionately known as Hugh, he was born in Victoria, BC on November 12th, 1945. Hugh was the 4th boy in a family of six boys and one girl, and grew up in Sidney, BC.
Hugh was multi-talented, as shown by his woodworking skills, holding a journeyman electrician license, having a pilot's license as well as his being a fantastic gardener and musician.
Family was everything to Hugh. He enjoyed spending time with his children and passing his knowledge on to his grandchildren.
Hugh is predeceased by his parents Neville and Regina, and by his sister Annie (Bottiglieri). Hugh will be greatly missed by his wife Rhea (53 years), sons Reginald (Sophie) of Prince George and Michael (Mandy) of Quesnel, daughters Wendi (Michael), Jacqui (Giles), and Deborah of Victoria, BC, along with his 16 grandchildren.
Hugh will also be missed by his brothers Howard of Courtenay, Roland of Port Coquitlam, Bill of Edmonton, AB & Gordon and Leonard (Sep) of Burns Lake, BC.
