Russell "Robert" Bartrim

Russell (Robert) Bartrim Of Nanoose Bay, BC. Russell was born on March 15th, 1931 in Vancouver, BC and passed away peacefully on May 7th, 2019 in Victoria, BC at the age of 88, surrounded by family.
Predeceased by his wife Dean (Akerley), parents Egbert and Ethel Bartrim, sister Muriel Tierney and brother Bill Bartrim.
Russ is survived by his daughters Colleen Downing (Bill), Carol (Brian), son Brian and brother Gary Bartrim (Teresa). He will also be missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; dear friend Carole Moraes, along with many other family and friends.
Russ grew up in Port Alice, BC where the surrounding environment of a Pulp Mill, lakes, oceans and the forest ingrained in him his career as a saw-filer and passions for fishing and hunting.
Russ's future second career as a professional fishing guide was cemented when he took his Boss fishing and returned with 10 Spring Salmon all over 30 lbs.
Russ married Dean (Marie Eledine Akerley) on August 1st, 1953 and she passed away on November 23rd, 2001 after 48 years of a good life raising their children. In their early years they lived in Port Alice, Merritt, Port Alberni, and Parksville before happily settling in Nanoose Bay, BC.
A Celebration of Russ's Life will be held on Sunday, June 9th, 1:30 PM at St. Mary's Anglican Church, 2600 Power Point Road, Nanoose Bay, BC.
